What is the freaking deal with everyone thinking that the best way to do something is the way that they are advocating for or the one that they know? You can see it everywhere. How often have you heard about a new fad diet that will get you to lose 20 pounds fast? How about ads saying that taking this supplement or pill will make you feel energized and more focused? There is no limit to this and it will never stop. Let's shift the focus for a second onto another topic.
You want to get in better shape, right? Well, you only need to do Olympic lifts, CrossFit (makes puking noise), Army physical fitness training, running, combat-focused physical training, Pilates, P90X, Insanity, and watching David Goggins videos. There is literally no stopping this, either. Everyone is all about their one thing. Have you had enough yet? Of course not, so let's talk about something else.
If you want to be successful in your career, you must attend this or that training, attend this or that school, study for this amount of time every day, become an engineer, doctor, or lawyer, and love math and science.
How do you know what you need to do to better yourself with all of this conflicting and outdated information around? What really is THE BEST way? The answer is really simple…Just start.
Stop trying to find the perfect workout, perfect nutrition, or perfect school, and just start. If you don’t know what to do, start a 5-minute workout. Build upon that as you get comfortable. If you don’t like it, start a new one, but do not stop. After all, it is much more challenging to stop something in motion than to keep it moving.
Stop trying to get a quick fix to losing those extra pounds that won’t just fall off. Be a little bit more active. Eat a little bit less. Over time, that will compound, and you will lose the weight. The hardest part is starting and staying consistent.
You don’t know what you need to do to get promoted or don’t know what you want to do with your life? That’s fine as well. Just start. Start taking some classes on a topic that you might be interested in. Go to some training that you think may help with your aspirations. Ask someone you trust for candid advice or feedback on what you must do.
The truth is, there is not a perfect time to start. There is not an exact science to success. Sure, some tactics, techniques, and procedures will guide you toward success, but the one thing that many people fail to do is act. You’ll never have the best weather, the most usable data, the perfect plan, or know the exact way something should be done, so stop waiting and start the process.
You, just sitting on your four-point of contact (that’s your a** if you didn’t know), will keep you where you currently are, which, if you’re reading this, is not where you want to be. Fix it! Get started now.
